New generation vertical shaft impactor VSI5X

Crushing and screening equipment producer SBM has unveiled its new generation vertical shaft impact crusher VSI5X.

The second-generation tracked vertical shaft impactor, which is easy to use and maintain, has been designed for high-volume tertiary and quaternary crushing applications, producing sand and fines, with quality enhancement of aggregate.

The crusher is able to accommodate four different engine models – the C 13 Tier Three 328 kW engine, the C 15 Tier Three 405 kW engine for local use, the C 15 Tier Four 405 kW engine or the C 13 Tier Four 328 kW engine for European markets and North American markets – meeting current market needs as well as the increasingly stringent engine emission regulations in Europe and the US.

The sizes of the diesel and hydraulic tanks have also been increased in line with increased power output to over 1 600 ℓ and 1 200 ℓ respectively, which enables nonstop operation for at least 12 hours.

The VSI5X`s troughed feeder has been designed to reduce the number of moving parts, while the crusher incorporates a new mounting and vibration isolating system that is always visible and will allow replacement of all four rubber mountings in less than an hour.

The TwisterTrac VSI5X is fully compliant with the latest European ergonomic and safety standards and will bear the European Conformity mark, indicating that it conforms to European Union safety directives, which also require that it be accompanied by an operations manual in the language of every country in which it is sold.

A significant feature of the TwisterTrac is its CANbus electronic control system, which has real-time filter monitoring and the most up-to-date human/machine interaction technology. While this machine boasts the latest programmable logic controller technology, the control systems are supported by graphic illustrations to guide the operator.

The machine is scheduled to start field tests and prototyping within the next two weeks and, once a programme of reliability and capability tests has been completed, production will start, with first deliveries expected in April next year.

Meanwhile, SBM Machinery has launched several other new products, including the HPC hydraulic cone crusher, with a throughput capacity of close to 500 t/h, which will facilitate the company’s entry into high-tonnage quarrying and mining applications.
